This is a page discussing about the outdoor staircases of the University of Central Florida's School of Visual Arts (SVAD) building. The joke is still funny Kate shhhh

About the Stair Cases[]

The UCF School of Visual Arts outdoor staircases are one of three constructions to bring users up and down the vertical distance between the first and second floors of the SVAD building. The other methods include the elevator and the indoor Staircase.

The outdoor Staircases are unique in that they are the only outdoor method of traveling the vertical distance of the UCF SVAD building. In addition, both the left and right staircases feature exactly the same amount of steps: 28 steps with an intermediate landing platform located in between the 13th and 14th step.

At the top of both staircases brings a large platform that features a balcony between the left and right staircases. People who look out this balcony may find an intriguing view to see, perhaps a location of inspiration for certain art students and artists.

Why Use the Staircases?[]

The twin staircases' unique quality of being the only outdoor method of traveling the vertical distance of the SVAD building brings it merits the other two methods of transportation do not have.

Traveling up or down the stairs gives students walking from the UCF bookstore and Colbourn buildings the quickest method of travel to the second floor. Students do not need to enter the building and travel upwards, they only need to travel upwards this way.

In addition, for those leaving the second floor of the SVAD building, they are treated to a view of the UCF campus when they climb down the stairs.

Stairs, for those who are able to climb it without disability, also provide a great source of exercise!

Using the Staircases At Different Times of Day[]

The UCF SVAD Staircases can technically be climbed 24 hours a day. The Official Hours of the Campus of the SVAD lasts 8A.M. to 5P.M. However, there are Visual Art students who come after the 5P.M. closing time (night time) to work on their projects and thus the Staircases function for nighttime usage as well.

If you do decide to use the staircases once the sun goes down, the two staircases are well lit (as photographed) via wall lights and lights of the SVAD building itself.

Safety[]

When walking up or down the 28 steps of either staircase, make sure to always step carefully and maintain caution. Careless steps could lead to tripping and potentially unwanted injuries (especially unwanted in medical bills). The rails are always an excellent way to maintain balance and stability when climbing up or down the staircases. If an incident does occur, immediately notify UCFPD/Campus security (407-823-5555) or call 911. Don't walk away if an incident happens to someone else and get help!
